Recently, the falcon claws have been found to be the key to increasing the drone's landing stability.
It would save energy if flying machines could land and balance on different surfaces instead of hovering.
Nevertheless, the engineers said that it took a lot of work to come up with the right model of robotic grasper.
The landing spots can be bumpy or slippery, varying in size and texture.
They imitated the falcon's claws that curl around the branch and its soft, wrinkly toe pads for stable footing.
They call the project Stereotyped Nature-Inspired Aerial Grasper, or SNAG.
